Robert Skiles - Moon Melodies: Lullabies for Lunatics

MOON MELODIES Ever have a melody go through your head that just will not leave you alone? These "Moon Melodies" are short themes and phrases that I have been humming, whistling and singing since I was a teenager. They have coursed through my brain like recurring dreams that to this day remain with me. Throughout my career as a composer, I have used these melodies as part of more lengthy compositions. They are presented here however, in their shortest and most unembellished form. I have no idea where they come from, theses lyrical jewels. I imagine them to be gifts from the moon. Lullabies and moonlight have had a love affair with one another for centuries. And since I have always been fascinated by all things lunar, I am indeed a "lunatic". So I offer these melodies as "Lullabies for Lunatics". Consider them a melodic necklace, a crescent of simple pearls created and strung together by nothing more complicated than the power of the moon.
